Work with us

Bucksum EST. 2006

We believe in community, family and supporting small local businesses

Although we are a small full-time team (two of us plus the dog) we do employ a team of part-time staff and also offer volunteer opportunities.

If you’re interested in working or volunteering with us please drop in for a chat and also email us telling us about your interests and why you think you’d be suited to life at Bucksum.

Most of our staff start as ‘holiday cover’ for existing team members and work their way up to regular hours in both the Farm Shop and in the field, gaining a range of practical and customer-focused experience.

We believe in the potential of our employees and through annual appraisal and training help to develop your skills for the next stage of your working life whatever your age.

Please note that we never employ people whose parents ask for them, although it can be nerve-wracking applying for a first job, this work does involve dealing with customers and we will help to develop your skills so you do need to ask for yourself.

We offer work experience for both secondary school children and for adults contemplating a career change and wishing to gain some experience on a farm.

Our team

Tracy & David on their wedding day

David & Tracy

Partners in life and business, David is a second-generation farmer and set up Bucksum in 2006.
Tracy & David met at Thame Food Festival in 2011.

Tracy’s Grandfather was a farmer and she returned to her roots joining David part-time in 2012, becoming a full-time partner in the business in 2015.

Harvey was looking for a job and found our website. He learned all about us before applying in June 2024, he started the next week
Duncan joined us late March 2024 after putting in a such an amazing full work experience day early in the month that we offered him a job on the spot!
Ben first came to Bucksum as a Young Grower, by age 11&12 he was a volunteer helper with Young Growers and so at age 13 was ready to start work straight away.
Noodle, ‘Pest Control Officer’, joined the team in 2014 and loves coming to work, where she takes her job (ensuring that no mice are nesting near the polytunnels, eating the salad) very seriously.

Edith joined us in Autumn 2024, having waited patiently to become old enough.
Talia joined us in early 2023 aged just 14 & looking for a first job, she’s very motivated and learning fast.
George followed in his big sister Meg’s footsteps in approaching Bucksum for his first job in Summer 2023.
Evan joined us at the end of May 2025 just as he turned 13 & having sent an excellent e mail application, as with all of our new staff he starts as ‘holiday cover’.
Isadora joined us in Spring 2023, as soon as she was old enough to work, having grown up ‘playing shop’ on the till & scales.
Emily joined us in summer 2024 having met us at Futurefest.
